Off The Blog

The first week of 2018 has come to a close. I made some blogging, reading and personal resolutions. My blogging resolution is to write more in-depth reviews.  Rather then being lazy and simply saying “I liked/didn’t like the book” as I have recently been prone to do, I plan to back it up with examples, think high school English but without the grades. My personal goal is the same as every year, to exercise more. However, this year I am participating FitReaders hosted by The Geeky Book Blogger, and That’s What I’m Talking About. Hopefully, this will help keep me motivated.  As for reading, at the end of last year (and the year before that) I listened to a lot of audiobooks, I “read” more than any other time of the year, and I was also able to multi-task while doing so. For the past few months I had contemplated joining Audible and this week I signed up for their one month free trial scoring two audiobooks. My instant gratification audio was The Pearl Sister by Lucinda Riley and I pre-ordered Carnegie’s Maid by Marie Benedict. I know I can get audiobooks free at the library but there are a few of my favorite authors (Lucinda Riley and M.J. Rose) that are not available and it is a great way to avoid the wait list for the newest Stephen King novel. I am only three days into my trial but so far I am loving it.  Does anyone else belong to the service?  If so, what do you think of it and if I do continue past the free trial are there any recommendations?

  1. Good luck with your goals this year! I need to put more effort into exercising than I do. I was thinking that might be a great way to get in some audio book time–if I walk during my breaks at lunch. The problem is I usually work through my breaks . . . I hope you enjoy your new books! They all sound good! Have a great week, Whitney.
