  1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte: Prior to reading Jane Eyre I had never read a Gothic novel and was a thrilling experience.
  2. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank: Heart wrenching, a book everyone should read just once.
  3. One True Thing by Anna Quindlen: Discuses Mercy Killings and questions your believes on the subject.
  4. Stolen Lives by Malika Oufkir: An incredible story of survival and its precise detail made me physically ill.
  5. Cane River by Lalita Tadmey: While historical fiction, it is based on the author’s family tree and very well documented.
  6. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott:  This book makes me happy and every 13 year old girl should read it.
  7. Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz:  A well thought out, intense historical fiction and its ending questions who we really are and the consequences of our actions.
  8. Persuasion by Jane Austen:  A mature Pride and Prejudice
  9. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden:  A read this both as a 13 year old and again at 23 and was astounded by its dept and maturity.  Time flies while reading this book.
  10. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov:  Disturbing, engrossing, captivating.

  1. I will always have a soft spot for Jane Eyre- the summer going from 8th grade to 9th our teacher had us read it and do 100 questions. Welcome to high school! I read it in college too, but have been considering a reread.

  2. I have Little Women on my list too.. love that book. I am sadden to say I haven't read Anne Frank yet. And I know I should. Especially after visiting the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. Which was so heartbreaking. Here is my list:

  3. I NEARLY put The Diary of a Young Girl on my list. It's one of my favourite books – mostly because it manages to be so cheerful despite the families' situation, and it drives such big messages home to the reader. Persuasion nearly went on too, being my favourite Austen novel. I think it was the letter. Ohhhh, the letter! 🙂

Here's my Top Ten Tuesday, if you fancy visiting!

  4. You have some great books on your list. There are a couple of classics on here that I did read before I was blogger, but didn't add to my list as I've been reading them, as rereads, whilst being a blogger.
Memoirs of a Geisha was also an amazing book. I totally forgot about that when when making my list.
