Top Four Tuesday: Auto Buy Authors

Posted February 26, 2013 by Whitney in Top Ten Tuesday / 9 Comments

I’m going to start by saying I love all these authors dearly but I am not one to run out and buy books on their release date.  Although, the below author’s novels always end up on my bookshelf/ereader.
  1. Tana French — I love her Dublin Murder Squad series.  I will admit, I still have Faithful Place halfway read and Broken Harbor still on my shelf but dust should not set an impression, she is a fantastic mystery writer.
  2. Gillian Flynn — I have read all three of her books, Sharp Objects, Dark Places and Gone Girl, I thought she was an exceptional writer but she did not become an auto buy until I read Gone Girl.  It was spine tingling.
  3. Alan Bradley —  I love Flavia de Luce she is one smart cookie and pulls off her know-it-all-ness without being annoyingly precocious.  Bradley has done a marvelous job.
  4. Melanie Benjamin — I read Alice I Have Been on a whim as it kept creeping up on Amazon’s you may like list, so I decided to give it a try.  I devoured Alice I Have Been and The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb and am up in the air with excitement to begin The Aviator’s Wife.
Only four today, my pocketbook can’t handle any more, besides most of my favorite authors are deceased.

  1. This is a great question. I don't think I have any auto-buy authors, but I am working on acquiring the entire collection of Wally Lamb and Madeline L'Engle.

  2. You managed a longer list than I could have! Reading this top ten has made me realize I need to make a greater effort to read the work of living authors. For shame!
