Miz B at Should Be Reading hosts a weekly meme entitled Teaser Tuesday
- Grab your current read.
- Let the book fall open to a random page.
- Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
- You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
- Please avoid spoilers!
“A society dame has chosen to parade herself as a living portrait. She must be treated as such. It’s her due.”
~Wicked by Gregory Maguire page 200
I would argue that sometimes the choice was made for her.
My teaser is here
True, although sometimes I think both parties are at fault.
I LOVED this book!!! Great teaser. Mine is at The Crowded Leaf.
That teaser makes me wish I were described as a "society dame." 🙂
This book totally freaked me out. i don't think I ever had such a strong reaction to a book before.
I reviewed it mid last year I think, just when I was getting my blog started. Here is my review
http://pageturnersbooks.blogspot.com/2009/06/wicked-by-gregory-maguire.html
Its not a great review because I had just started blogging, and I wasn't sure how to put my feelings into words.
I hope that you are enjoying it. I have the sequel sitting at home, but I want to re-read Wicked before I read the sequel.
My teaser this week is from a Shirley Hazzard book.
Alayne– I love this book too! it's a reread for me.
Rose City Reader– this teaser makes me want to be part of high society too.
Becky– I think you either love Wicked or hate it. I'm really enjoying it, but my mom would side with you. I think she's too much of a purist.
Oh, nice one. I haven't read this book yet. Now I want to, though!
Great Teaser for the book because I think it accurately represents it. I read it a few years ago and have to say that it is really a thinking book! (if that even begins to make sense)
This books has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of years. I saw the musical and my mom bought me the book after we saw it, but the truth is I didn't really care for the musical and so I never picked the book up! Maybe I should at least take a look at it! Here's my teaser for Watermark.
Very thought-provoking teaser! 🙂
I am OBSESSED with the Wicked musical! I have yet to read the book though. But I will, soon. It's intimidating how thick it is lol.
I've had this book forever, and I have still not read it…
I will have to get to it soon.
I found your blog through "Lights, Camera, Blog Action." Great interview, and great blog!
ooh! i loved the sentence structure of this book. the long sentence with the brief, punchy button. yum.
I would hate to be sort of on display like that. But that's me and my shyness.
I have heard about this book but it is another one of those things that I always seem to skip. Adding this to my ten mile long TBR pile now.
This looks great! Amazing teaser! I read the most amazing book this week. I had used it for my Teaser Tuesday and loved it so much I decided to post my review today. Feel free to head over to my blog and check it out at http://EmmaMichaels.Blogspot.com and post your teaser in my comments!
Sincerely,
Emma Michaels
