Off the Blog

This week I went to the dentist and after a long process of prepping for teeth implants was give the go-ahead to get my permanents. On October 17th I will be able to bite into an apple — to me this is as exciting as the tooth fairy leaving a dollar. Today I am contemplating seeing Miss Peregrine’s Home for Perculiar Children.  I’m very curious as to how Tim Burton adapted it to the big screen.

  1. Can’t wait to see the movie. My brother said because he has read the book(s), he was disappointed in then adaption, but those who hadn’t loved the movie. He said the kids loved it as well.

  2. I hope Miss Peregrine’s is good! I want to see it too. Looks like I’ll need to stop by this week, for your review of that book as well as The Girl on the Train (I liked that one, didn’t love it, but it’s another one where I want to see the movie). And I thought about doing the Frightfall readathon, I always like Michelle’s readathons…

    Have a great week!

  3. I don’t look after my teeth well enough so I shouldn’t take that for granted. I hope the implants work out well.

Enjoy Miss Peregrine’s. I’ve only heard good things so far!

  4. “On October 17th I will be able to bite into an apple — to me this is as exciting as the tooth fairy leaving a dollar.” What a simile! Oh, to meet another who knows my teeth journey! In 2011, I found out I was part of the 8% of the population who had severe bone loss – all genetics. I had to have 16 teeth extracted; what a score for my perio’s dental students, LOL. I’ve had five perio surgeries, most of them evasive b/c of the bone grafts. I finally got my lower crowns done last year and am slowly working toward getting my uppers put in. Unfortunately, it takes a while since my mouth is small and my teeth are all angled, etc. My lowers had to be digitally designed so…

  5. I hope the dental work goes smoothly for you and you can finally bite into that apple 🙂

I too want to give Miss Peregrine’s book a try and I think the movie will be a great adaptation.

I have heard great things about Bel Canto. Ann Patchett is an author I hoe to get to some time very soon.

    Have a great reading week!
