Lucy and her vivid imagination and determination to believe enables her to see Aslan first, convincing her siblings that he has returned being beneficial to their quest. Cheers and hope are sounded by his return uplifting the reader’s heart. This is until, Peter must duel Miraz and then one is holding their breath.
I must admit, I had problems with Caspian, not because he was unfair or a poor leader but because I can picture no one else except the High King Peter ruling over Narnia. But if that’s my only complaint, C.S. Lewis has done his job.
I cannot end without mentioning Reepicheap, his loyalty and determination to participate and assist with his skills is endearing and I almost cried at the loss of his tail. (I hope that doesn’t sound pathetic). Overall, this was a very enjoyable read which I would recommend to anyone who is still young at heart.
These were my favorite books as a kid! I read all of them at once over Christmas break in 5th grade. My parents had given me the boxed set. My only complaint about Caspian was that at the end Peter and Susan…well, that would be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't read it, but you know what I mean!

I loved this series as a kid and recently re-read the whole thing. So great! I can't put my finger on why, but Caspian was always one of my least favorite book though.

This series is my most beloved. Whitney, was this the first time you'd read the book, or did you read it as a child? Have you read any of the other 6?
Kathy– I did read and reread this and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe as a child. As an adult I also read A Horse and His Boy & The Magician's Nephew.
This series really translates well and want to read the rest of the Narnia adventures.
I adore Reepicheep! He's amazing.
Juju– I think you said your dog's middle name is Reepicheep. That is true devotion!
I have neither read this book nor seen the movie. Too bad! I have to reserve a whole weekend for Narnia sometime soon 🙂
