Today marks the first day of spring, (although you’d never know it) it’s cold and windy and I try to avoid going out at all costs. Despite the nonexistence of spring weather it is time for Carl’s Once Upon A Time Challenge.
The challenge runs through March 21 – June 21 with the goal being to enjoy the magic of Spring (yet to come).
These magical genres are
- Fairy Tales
- Folklore
- Mythology
- Fantasy
There are several ways to participate but I am choosing:
Read at least 5 books that fit somewhere within the Once Upon a Time categories. They might all be fantasy, or folklore, or fairy tales, or mythology…or your five books might be a combination from the four genres.
My pool is:
- The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien (I read Fellowship and Two Towers last year)
- His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
- Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
- Nameless by Lilie St. Crow
- Wizard of Oz series by L. Frank Baum
- A Connecticut in King Arthur’s Court by Mark Twain
great mixture of newer and older books!!looking forward to the reviews!
What a wonderful challenge! Thinking about joining…
Great list of books! I have the Lord of the Rings trilogy on my list as well, and Peter Pan is one my very favorite books. I hope you enjoy!
That is a list with a lot of variety. I will especially interested in how you like the His Dark Materials books; I am not sure if I would like them or not.
