Monthly Review: January 2012

Posted January 31, 2012 by Whitney in Monthly Review / 5 Comments

How did January go so quickly?  It feels like I was just making new year’s resolutions. Well, I guess my progress on my blogging resolutions is as good a place to start, if any.

My blogging goals were:

  1. Turn She Is To Fond Of Books into a classic oriented blog
  2. Comment More
  3. Successfully host a blogging event

Now, how am I doing?

I’m very proud of myself for sticking to my classic promise.  Even though I’ve only read two works thus far I have not stressed over the fact that I have only read two classics yet and have been pretty good about balancing modern and classic reading.

After a blogging hiatus last year I really took a nose-dive on commenting on other’s blogs.  After joining Mother Reader’s commenting challenge I really got a boost in that area and think I’m back up to my previous standard and comment on a least five blogs per day.

Blogging events are still in process,  I’ve announced two read-alongs one for Pride and Prejudice and the second for Doctor Zhivago both scheduled to begin in March.  March will be a busy blogging month for me as I’m also starting a monthly event to highlight classic authors, my first author is Jane Austen, (P&P read-along to coincide).  I think this is all manageable but I hope I’m not spreading too much butter over stretched bread.

Currently Reading:

  1. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

  1. I think you're doing just great–that's a whole lotta challenges you've signed yourself up for. I have two coworkers who just finished the Stephen King book and I'm very tempted to give it a try–I'm just leery of the time it will take to get through it!
