Let the Read-a-Thon Commence

Posted April 10, 2010 by Whitney in read-a-thon / 11 Comments

I’m about to start my first ever read-a-thon and I’m so excited!  I would be amazed if I can stay up the whole 24 hours, so I will aim for between 12-16 that seems more realistic to me.  My game plan is to have fun!  That’s it, nothing more.  Although, I have picked out a few books to read today and my favorite pair of sweatpants.  As for posting/commenting, I’m not sure how often that will be, probably when I need a break from reading.

Currently Reading:

  1. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Books To Read:

  1. The Blue Fairy Book by Andrew Lang
  2. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
  3. Wicked by Gregory Maguire

Hour One Meme
Where are you reading from today?
The Land of Lincoln — Illinois

3 facts about me …
I hate onions
I would buy books over food {I’m feeding my brain}
I love Bette Davis

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
four

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
Have fun !

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time?
I’m a newbie, I can use all the advice I can get!

Whitney, I'm new to the readathon as well, but I decided to wish some good luck at the beginning. Coffee and I are about to go open a book though! Good luck!

  2. Hey!!!

I'm also a cheerleader and this is my 2nd read-a-thon. The best thing to do with this is to just have fun & read when you want, what you want, and how long you want.

Have tons of fun and keep reading. You have a wonderful list!

Good luck & I'll see you later!!!

  3. LOVE Gone with the Wind…perfect Read-a-thon read, albeit long. Hope you don't get TOO lost in the South!
