Question:
Do you ever go “way back” to when you first started blogging and look at your old review posts? Do you see any differences from then to now?
Answer
My very first review was Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. My goodness, minus a few sentences on my actually thoughts and a reference to Twilight my review is mainly a synopsis. Now, I leave the synopsis to Goodreads and focus on my thoughts. My reviews still have pop colture references but are longer than a few sentences.

Beginning:
It was nearing midnight and the Prime Minister was sitting alone in his office, reading a long memo that was slipping through his brain without leaving the slightest trace of meaning behind.

The church clock chimed midnight behind them. Harry wondered why Dumbledore did not consider it rude to call on his old colleague so late, but now that conversation had been established, he had more pressing questions to ask.
My Thoughts
I’ve always liked the beginning of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince it is so fun to see the two Prime Ministers together both are frenetic in their own ways and makes for an enjoyable, unique first chapter. On page 56, I like that Dumbledore treats Harry like an adult, even if he was being used to acquire Slughorn as a teacher at Hogwarts.

The war against Voldemort is not going well: even Muggle governments are noticing. Ron scans the obituary pages of The Daily Prophet looking for familiar names. Dumbledore is absent from Hogwarts for long stretches of time, and the Order of the Phoenix has already suffered losses. And yet... As in all wars, life goes on. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate, and lose a few eyebrows in the process. The Weasley twins expand their business. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Classes are never straightforward, though Harry receives some extraordinary help from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince. So it's the home front that takes center stage in the multilayered sixth installment of the story of Harry Potter. Harry struggles to uncover the identity of the Half-Blood Prince, the past owner of a potions textbook he now possesses that is filled with ingenious, potentially deadly, spells. But Harry's life is suddenly changed forever when someone close to him is heinously murdered right before his eyes. With Dumbledore's guidance, he seeks out the full, complex story of the boy who became Lord Voldemort, and thereby attempts to find what may be his only vulnerability.--scholastic.com

I’d really love to reread all the Harry Potter books! I do love the beginning of this one.
I’m rereading the series now — it is so fun to revisit them!
I’ve still not finished reading the books, though I’ve watched all of the movies. Hopefully I’ll find the time some day:)
My Friday 56 from The Forever Man
I must admit that I haven’t read ANY of the Harry Potter books…I started one a few years ago, and just couldn’t get into it. I have seen three of the movies, though.
I admire the author, however, and now I’m considering reading her Galbraith books.
Enjoy your weekend, and here’s my pick: “CLOSE YOUR EYES, HOLD HANDS”
I should read this one again. I read it on publication day but not since. I have Dead Man’s Bridge by Robert J. Mrazek this week. Happy reading!
I did the same thing. I would summarize which isn’t good.
ENJOY your weekend, and Happy Hopping!!

Another great Harry Potter read! Happy weekend!
Yeah, I also advocate simply sticking the official synopsis at the top and keeping my review for my thoughts.
I want to reread the Harry Potter series. I might start at Thanksgiving with my days off.
I agree about the start of Half-Blood Prince with the two Prime Ministers. That is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series.
Yes, I’ve been using the Goodreads Blurb instead of a synopsis of my own too. But the reviews are much the same, maybe less self-conscious 🙂
