Ebook Challenge Hosted by Workaday Reads
January 1 -December 31, 2013
I finished the 2013 Ebook Challenge last week while on vacation. I had a bit of an oh no moment as midway through my vacation my Kindle froze. I couldn’t get it to turn on and it wouldn’t charge. This is bad, but the worst part was it was the only “book” I had brought, therefore I had to rely on the meager mass market paperback selection. When I got home one of the first things I did that evening was get on the Kindle help page where they had an instruction of how to restart your kindle. I read it carefully and decided to head over to the forums where it was suggested to hold the power button down for 30 Mississippi’s. It was a long thirty Mississippi’s but after an inhaled breath and let my finger off the power button an icon appeared warning me of low battery. Being as technically impaired I am you have no idea how excited I was, and I did it without yelling or throwing my computer/kindle at the wall. I charged it overnight and like Christmas, the next morning it was working again. I don’t mean to brag but I thought I was pretty awesome in that moment.
Anyway, here is what I read for my ebook challenge:
1. Right Side Talking by Bonnie Rozanski
2. The Aviator’s Wife by Melanie Benjamin
3. Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight
4. The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison
5. Eve in Hollywood by Amor Towles
Oh, no. Broken e-reader is a panicking moment. Glad you fixed it!
Congratulations on completing the challenge. I had the very same thing happen to my Kindle. Fortunately, the same trick worked on mine too, but I was panicked until I got it figured out.
