Opening Meme

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Wisconsin

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I always have tea and yogurt on hand

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’ve been 29 since 2014. I adopted two cats when I was 22 and they are like my children. I have read Harry Potter every year since I was eleven. When I was 2 my go-to outfit was my Snow White costume.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I discovered audiobooks this year and I knocked a lot of books out in April’s readathon, and plan on utilizing that today. As for something I would do differently, I need to remind myself that going to sleep at 11 does not equal a failed 24 hour readathon — the point is to have fun!

End of Event Survey

Which hour was most daunting for you?
Hour 18 I was starting to get sleeping and not willing to meet defeat.

Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
Even though I didn’t get around to it, Harry Potter always keeps me engaged. Although this time A Series of Unfortunate Events did the trick.

Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next season?
None, it is perfect as is.

What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?

I paced my caffeine, it helped with the jitters.  I also went outside and took a walk, that helped regenerate me.

How many books did you read?
4

What were the names of the books you read?

  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
  • Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
  • The Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen
  • The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

Which book did you enjoy most?
The Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen — it was a favorite book of mine growing up and thought it was just as good as an adult

Which did you enjoy least?
Gossip Girl — it was a skanky Mean Girls

How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
As long as I am free I’ll participate again probably as a reader.

  1. That is quite the stack of books to choose from. I do love reading Harry Potter during this particular readathon because they do go super fast even though the later books are quite large.
I hope you are able to have fun and accomplish some goals. 🙂

  2. I love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
You have some great options on your reading list! The Lunar Chronicles are great for a readathon. Fun and fast paced. (though Harry Potter is always a good choice for the late hours!)
    Have fun!
