Adaptation Alert:
I believe the title of this posts says it all, Everything I Never Told You and Little Fires Everywhere are being adapted to screen.
Earlier this year, according to Deadline, LD Entertainment optioned the rights for Everything I Never Told You. Currently, Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Moneyball) is set to produce. Julia Cox (The Last Tycoon) has been penned to write the screenplay. As this film is still in the development stages there is yet little known, but I hope to learn more as the film goes forward.
As for Little Fires Everywhere Reese Witherspoon, who selected the novel for her book club, and Kerry Washington have struck a deal with Hulu to create a limited series. Witherspoon and Washington will produce and star in the project. Having read Little Fires Everywhere earlier this year neither of these actresses were how I pictured the two main characters. However, I think they will also bring a unique look to the novel, and I anticipate discovering where they take it.

Lydia is dead. But they don’t know this yet.
So begins this exquisite novel about a Chinese American family living in 1970s small-town Ohio. Lydia is the favorite child of Marilyn and James Lee, and her parents are determined that she will fulfill the dreams they were unable to pursue. But when Lydia’s body is found in the local lake, the delicate balancing act that has been keeping the Lee family together is destroyed, tumbling them into chaos.
A profoundly moving story of family, secrets, and longing, Everything I Never Told You is both a gripping page-turner and a sensitive family portrait, uncovering the ways in which mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, and husbands and wives struggle, all their lives, to understand one another.

Everyone in Shaker Heights was talking about it that summer: how Isabelle, the last of the Richardson children, had finally gone around the bend and burned the house down.
In Shaker Heights, a placid, progressive suburb of Cleveland, everything is meticulously planned – from the layout of the winding roads, to the colours of the houses, to the successful lives its residents will go on to lead. And no one embodies this spirit more than Elena Richardson, whose guiding principle is playing by the rules.
Enter Mia Warren – an enigmatic artist and single mother – who arrives in this idyllic bubble with her teenage daughter Pearl, and rents a house from the Richardsons. Soon Mia and Pearl become more than just tenants: all four Richardson children are drawn to the alluring mother-daughter pair. But Mia carries with her a mysterious past, and a disregard for the rules that threatens to upend this carefully ordered community.
When the Richardsons' friends attempt to adopt a Chinese-American baby, a custody battle erupts that dramatically divides the town and puts Mia and Mrs. Richardson on opposing sides. Suspicious of Mia and her motives, Mrs. Richardson becomes determined to uncover the secrets in Mia's past. But her obsession will come at unexpected and devastating costs to her own family – and Mia's.
Little Fires Everywhere explores the weight of long-held secrets and the ferocious pull of motherhood-and the danger of believing that planning and following the rules can avert disaster, or heartbreak.
Ahhh so cool!
