The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a Wizarding classic, first came to Muggle readers’ attention in the book known as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now, thanks to Hermione Granger’s new translation from the ancient runes, we present this stunning edition with an introduction, notes, and illustrations by J. K. Rowling, and extensive commentary by Albus Dumbledore.
Never before have Muggles been privy to these richly imaginative tales: “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot,” “The Fountain of Fair Fortune,” “The Warlock’s Hairy Heart,” “Babbitty Rabbity and Her Cackling Stump,” and of course, “The Tale of the Three Brothers.” But not only are they the equal of fairy tales we now know and love, reading them gives new insight into the world of Harry Potter.

I grew up reading Harry Potter. Despite J.K. Rowling’s beliefs, this is one reader who isn’t going to let a difference of opinion ruin my love for the series. Therefore, when I saw Audible was offering this short story for free, I jumped on the train faster than Harry boarded The Hogwarts Express.

Part of the reason for this jump was that it is narrated by actors from the films. For any Harry Potter fan, this enhances the experience. Personally, I could listen to Jason Isaacs and Jude Law read the phonebook so this was a huge plus. Anyway, the audiobook is short and can be listened to in an afternoon. The Tales of Beedle the Bard took me back to my childhood, even though I was in my twenties when Deathly Hallows was released. I also enjoyed listening to a book that Hermione Granger had read many times over, and if possible gives a greater understanding of the original series. Overall, The Tales of Beedle the Bard is short, sweet and a fun set of stories to listen to.
