48 Hour Read-A-Thon

Posted January 31, 2011 by Whitney in read-a-thon / 9 Comments

Unputdownables is hosting her second 48 Hour Read-A-Thon over the weekend of February 4 – 6  This is the weekend of the Super Bowl which is perfect because I am a 0% football fan and just in it for the commercials and half-time show.  Because of my lack of interest I usually read during the actual game so this is perfect.
Rules and Regulations
  1. Choose a few books from your To Be Read pile that you will attempt to finish this weekend (Friday evening through Sunday night).
  2. Post your TBR Read-a-Thon books on your blog so your readers can see what you are attempting for the weekend.
  3. Challenge your readers to read along with you! (It’s OK if they don’t, but might be fun if they want to choose at least one book to participate with).
  4. Join the discussion all weekend long at #bookblogchat on Twitter.
  5. Post updates on your blog about what you are reading and what you have finished (full reviews can come later, but this will let your readers know what you are reading so they can either read along or look forward to your reviews!)
  6. Visit other blogs that are doing the read-a-long. Post comments and follow your fellow bloggers.

Potential Reads

  1. Moorland Cottage by Elizabeth Gaskell
  2. Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
  3. Villette by Charlotte Bronte
  4. The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis
  5. The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton

  1. I am so hoping someone does one of these in March–next weekend without anything planned! I need a read-a-thon—btw you are the reason I signed up on the Jane Austen challenge 🙂 I saw it on your blog and had too!

  2. So glad you are joining! To everyone who is thinking about it — join! You don't have to commit to reading a stack of books, one is fine… and you can do it in front of the football game if you want as well. It's more for the fun of knowing you are reading with others… if you don't get all of your reading goals met, it's not the end of the world (though it does feel good when you do). 🙂

  3. I am sooooo joining – was planning a lot of couch/book time – this gives me a viable reason!
    Thanks!
    (I don't tweet – I hope I can still participate!)
